The motivation or application letter is an argument. It does not come to summarize the CV, it is a complement. It should be systematically revised according to the targeted position and the structure contacted. Avoid spelling mistakes, negative expressions and banal flattery that will devalue your application. In the form of a representation of an A4 sheet, here are some elements of presentation of your letter

There is no standard CV,  each application being unique. However, more or less adapted techniques will be able to help you in the development of your CV. Intended for a recruiter, the document is intended to be quick to read  : the main information should appear at a glance. (To consult  CV, presentation template)

The CV is  first of all  a professional identity card. It presents your course on several levels:

  • Civil status and contact details

You should be as complete and precise as possible so that the recruiter can get back to you if necessary. The photo is optional and allows you to put a face on a profile. A telephone number and an e-mail address make it easier to make contact (watch out for the answering machine's welcome announcements and fancy e-mail addresses).

  • A title

This is the item the reader will see first. The hook is written either in terms of "  job  ", either "  career goal  ". If the application responds to an advertisement, the precise terms of the advertisement should be used.

Examples  :

  • Marketing coordinator

This title highlights the last position held by the candidate or uses the title of the position issued in an advertisement.

  • Objective: Promote websites and market their audience

The title by objective focuses attention on the purpose of the candidate's approach.

  • skills

The skills identified beforehand will make it possible to visualize the knowledge acquired during the training and their translation into know-how. The AU diploma competency sheets represent an essential tool in the search for information. It is important to adopt a professional vocabulary.

Examples  :

  • Ensure the quality of customer service  ;

  • Create communication supports  ;

  • Interpret results from statistical data.

  • Training

The diplomas obtained and the training followed should only appear if they are relevant to the position requested. The title of the diploma will be followed by the training establishment and its location. The date will be used to organize the presentation: the anti-chronological order is essential.

  • professional career

For a young graduate, the professional career will primarily present internships, summer jobs, associative activities, etc.  : these few experiences, even if they do not have a direct link with the position for which you are applying, they will know how to make you sympathetic and give clues as to how you lived during your years of study.

Rather than establishing a catalog with a succession of dates, it is useful to group professional experiences by sector of activity or by job title. The CV will gain in clarity and relevance.

  • additional information (areas of interest, leisure activities, etc.)

This part is not compulsory, but it can be used to identify your personality and to shed light on certain aspects. Political, trade union and religious activities are to be avoided.

Furthermore,  the CV aims to seduce and arouse curiosity  of the reader in order to arouse the desire to meet you. Easy to read, the CV is a synthetic document (approximately 1 A4 page, printed on the front). Typed, the CV must be ventilated  : the headings will be clearly identified. To avoid spelling mistakes, repetitions or misunderstanding, it is advisable to have your CV proofread and corrected by several people (friends, family, teachers, BAIP, etc.).

Color in the presentation of a CV is not prohibited. Nonetheless, a full color CV can be entertaining but also shocking. Be original without the pros
